Carey Duncan Haouach
Treasurer
Carey received an Honour’s degree in City and Regional Planning at Wits in Johannesburg, and went on to study City and Regional Planning and Landscape Architecture at Cornell University in Upstate New York, obtaining a double Master’s degree. It was there that she met her Moroccan husband, Abdou, and after some years of navigating diplomatic obstacles, they were finally able to marry and moved to Morocco. They have lived in Rabat for 30+ years now.
Â
Carey founded her own landscape architecture firm in Rabat in 1994 and is very active with the International Federation of Landscape Architects which opens doors to a worldwide network. When not in front of a plan or on a building site, she likes to read or paint. She loves frequent escapes to her in-laws’ small farm in rural Morocco.Â
Carey says, "I joined ICOR a few years ago and was pleasantly surprised by the discoveries I made in and around Rabat through ICOR activities, and of course, I have enjoyed meeting a wide variety of interesting people -Â just a pity that many have to pack up and go just when you think they are a permanent fixture!"
Â
Carey and her husband, Abdou have two adult children : a son in Paris and a daughter in Ottawa.
